Last year the Hope for Heroes Winter Warm-Up campaign at Boone Village generated hundreds of dollars in goods and cash donations. The tally from all collections sites combined was in the thousands.

Akard True Value invited the public to decorate and submit a pumpkin to help promote a favorite cause.
The pumpkins were on display for voting through Halloween. The pumpkin with the most votes was the winner.
